From June 3rd to 6th, in the Science & Culture Forum that will take place at the Centre Prouvé, EDF (Electricité de France) will present the exhibition "Electric Worlds" which recounts the story of the "Fée Electricité" (the electricity fairy - the miracle of electricity) through the centuries. Thanks to many objects and documents from the EDF Electropolis Museum, visitors will be invited to discover the successive technological evolutions linked to electric power. 2015 has been declared the "International Year of light" by UNESCO, in order to raise awareness among citizens throughout the world on the importance, in their day-to-day life, of light, and therefore of electricity. The impact of light will be highlighted through innovations in the field of lighting. For electricity to hold no more secrets, displays about the means of producing electricity will enable visitors to discover the world of energy in a fun way.
Every day, EDF welcomes the public inside its electricity production plants to enable people to discover various energies such as nuclear, hydraulic, wind-powered and solar. Do you know that the largest photovoltaic plant in Europe is in Lorraine? EDF is a partner in innovation and research in Lorraine in order to build solutions for the future of the region through collaboration between EDF's R&D and stakeholders in research and the economic world such as the Université de Lorraine, research organizations, and competitiveness clusters. Moreover, EDF and the local education authority work in close collaboration for the benefit of education, training and professional integration in order to inform and help students from Lorraine in their future professional choices.
On an economic scale, EDF is a partner of the Lorraine Region and contributes to its economic development. The energy sector is indeed a strong source of jobs in Lorraine: with more than 300 recruitments in 2014, EDF's "Grand Carénage" industrial project will contribute to economic activity in the area for the next 10 years.
In 2014, 51% of investments in Lorraine have been made in the fields of energy and materials; thus, EDF, the biggest industrial investor in Lorraine, strongly contributes to the area's economic development, to the growth of its activity and to the acceleration of innovation.
